Great news for winter sports enthusiasts! Donner Ski Ranch is making it easier than ever to plan your mountain adventure. Our private ski and snowboard lessons are now available to book online, so you can secure your spot before you even pack your gear.
Why Book Online?
Gone are the days of hoping for same-day lesson availability. When you book your lesson in advance online, you're guaranteed an instructor at your preferred time. While we do accept walk-ups at our Ticket Windows on a first-come, first-served basis, same-day lessons depend entirely on instructor availability—and during our busy season, spots fill up fast.
Personalized Private Instruction
At Donner Ski Ranch, we specialize in private lessons tailored to your specific needs. Whether you're making your first turns on snow or looking to refine your technique, our knowledgeable and friendly instructors will help you progress at your own pace. Many of our instructors also speak Spanish, making lessons accessible to more families.
Our Private Lesson Rates:
1-hour private lesson: $150
Add an extra hour: $100
Add an extra person: $80 per person (up to 5 people total)
For first-time beginners, we recommend starting with a 2-hour lesson to give yourself plenty of time to get comfortable with the sport. If you're looking for a quick skills tune-up, a 1-hour lesson is perfect.
What to Know Before You Book
When planning your lesson, keep these important details in mind:
Arrive Early: Get to our Ticket Office at least two hours before your lesson to purchase lift tickets and pick up any rental equipment you need. On holidays, we recommend arriving by 8:00 am to secure parking, tickets, and rentals.
Lift Tickets Required: All lessons require a valid lift ticket. First-timers can use our affordable moving carpet ticket to practice on the beginner area.
Group Lessons: You can have up to 5 people in a single private lesson, but everyone must be on the same equipment (all skis or all snowboards), and instruction will be geared toward the lowest skill level in the group.
Lunch Break: Please note that lessons are not available between 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm while our instructors take their lunch break.
